About Us
Based in North Yorkshire, Abbey Furniture has been designing and manufacturing bespoke furniture for over 25 years.
We make beautiful fitted and free standing furniture for all areas of your home, including fitted and free standing bedroom furniture and dressing rooms.
We put the same amount of care into a small free standing bookcase as with fitted libraries, studies, offices, wall panelling and decorative features.
We construct our bespoke furniture in solid wood or a combination of solid and veneered wood, including oak, mahogany, beech, cherry, walnut and ash.
In addition to making furniture, Abbey Furniture also undertakes the design and manufacture of architectural woodwork.
Traditional production techniques together with versatile machinery enables Abbey Furniture to undertake the making of period doors and windows, solid wood cornicing, decorative columns and pilasters.
From planning, design, through to manufacture and fitting commissions of our handmade furniture are personally handled by City & Guilds qualified craftsmen.
Abbey Furniture has successfully completed commissions throughout the region, including Leeds, Wetherby, York, Harrogate, Ripon, Boroughbridge and Easingwold.
As a highly reputable furniture maker, we have also carried out work further afield for example, the Manchester area, Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales.

How we work
Design
Our project process kicks off with scheduling a complimentary design visit with our clients, available via phone or email. This visit is essential for gathering pertinent information to grasp any existing thoughts, designs, or ideas related to crafting fitted furniture.
Manufacture
Once all requirements are fulfilled and the customer is satisfied to proceed with placing an order with Abbey Furniture, we will initiate the project’s production upon receipt of the deposit. The duration of completion typically ranges from 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the project’s scale.
Installation
Once your furniture is crafted to impeccable standards, it will be delivered and installed promptly. We require the remaining balance of your payment on the day of installation. Our expert fitters will arrive at the agreed time to install your new fitted furniture, bookcase, studies, and display units.

Abbey Furniture can supply bedroom furniture to a range of specific requirements.
This includes fitted & free standing wardrobes, chests of drawers, beds and bedside cabinets/cupboards
A particular speciality of Abbey Furniture is the design, manufacture and fitting of clothes storage units.
Clothes hanging space, storage compartments, shelves and sliding trays can all be incorporated into fitted or free standing wardrobes as well as purpose built dressing rooms.
Refurbishment and Retro Fit
It quite often becomes apparent when visiting clients’ homes, that to supply and install new bedroom furniture is not always necessary when a modest amount of renovation and updating can achieve a similar or more appropriate outcome with significant cost savings.
For example, door and drawer fronts can be replaced together with handles, hinges and runners. Wardrobe and cupboard interiors can be re configured to make more efficient use of the available space. Adding sliding trays, storage boxes, re-siting hanging rails can all maximise storage space.

Bespoke Bookcase & Libraries
Abbey Furniture has a long and successful history in the making and supply of bookcases.
Over the years many hundreds of bespoke bookcases have been supplied directly to members of the public as well as retail outlets.
Because bookcases are individually made to order they can be any height, width and depth required. The appearance of the bookcases can be either straight fronted, step fronted or break fronted providing open shelves to the upper section and cupboard doors to the lower section.
Our bespoke libraries are always designed to fit the client’s requirements and we have previously worked with a range of specifications.
As with all other furniture made by Abbey Furniture, we make fitted and free standing bookcases and libraries.

Abbey Furniture also undertakes the design, construction and installation of shop fittings and retail display units.
Work undertaken includes information and reception counters, point of sale units, display cases & cabinets and workstations.
As all of Abbey Furniture’s work is bespoke, retail display units and shop fittings can be tailor made to suit the client’s precise requirements.
